Lors de sa fondation elle s\u2019appelait UP B\u00f6deli. Son succ\u00e8s s\u2019est rapidement r\u00e9pandu dans les communes et vall\u00e9es environnantes. Pour cela elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 renomm\u00e9e \u00ab Universit\u00e9 populaire Interlaken et environs \u00bb. Les premiers cours \u00e9taient au sujet de l\u2019art, la technique, l\u2019artisanat ; en plus, il y avait des pr\u00e9sentations typiques de UP. 17 ans plus tard les premiers cours de langues ont vu le jour, notamment l\u2019espagnol, l\u2019italien et l\u2019anglais. Au d\u00e9but l\u2019UP publiait 25 cours \u2013 aujourd\u2019hui 475 annuellement. Actuellement, l\u2019UP Interlaken et environs a rajout\u00e9 une palette importante de nouveaux domaines et cours : loisirs, cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9, \u00e9conomie, sant\u00e9, culture, langues \u00e9trang\u00e8res et informatique.
